Students from Level 3 Uniformed Public Services fought valiantly for the coveted Frying Pan trophy in this year’s annual Newbury Town Pancake Race. The race takes place in the Market Place every year and is arranged by Soroptimist International Newbury and District.

After winning their heat and being awarded with prestigious “gold” medals, Henry, Max, Becky and Liam then competed in the grand final but narrowly missed out on overall victory with a couple of misjudged tossing malfunctions, allowing Newbury Hall International School from Enborne Road and the Smurfs from Energie Fitness to take the lead.

The event culminated in the usual pancakes being tossed from St Nicolas’ Church where Henry Johnson pushed and shoved his way through the crowds, including Newbury’s infamous Eddie Kat!
