National Citizen Service (NCS) is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity open to 16 and 17 year olds. It will help you build skills for work and life by encouraging you to take on new challenges and meet new people. This opportunity is open to all students aged 16 or17 at Newbury College. No matter what course you are on, NCS will help you learn new skills that will support you in later life.

NCS is a three part programme during the summer holidays and October half term.

Part 1: Get Active

You will have all the fun of staying in an outdoor centre, taking part in fun and challenging activities like abseiling, kayaking, hiking and more!  This will be your chance to make new friends too.

Part 2: Get Involved

Ever wondered what it would be like to move away from home? Now’s your chance to find out! During this part you will stay in university-style accommodation, learn a new skill from an industry professional and interact with people from your local community.

Part 3: Make your Mark

This is your chance to put everything that you’ve learnt in to action. With your team, you will design a social action project to support your local community, pitch for funding and make it happen!

Whether you’re thinking about going to university after college, or getting a job, NCS will allow you the opportunity to develop skills that universities and employers are looking for. Stand out from the rest, take part in NCS.

Don’t just take it from us; "NCS is an amazing experience, it changed my usual boring summer into an action packed month. If you want new friends and experiences this is the challenge for you”
