The College is looking for four students to take part in a debating competition on Tuesday 16th October at Newbury Town Hall with the Town Mayor and with local school sixth forms. This forms part of local democracy week.

The competition is sponsored by Newbury Weekly News and every participant receives a medal and certificate- and the winning school or college receives a perpetual trophy!

Our team will have four participants and we are also allowed up to 5 supporters - so whether you are an individual or a team - contact Steve Greenwood or Louise Neil in Student Services!

There are 5 topics to debate and these will be announced next week. Students have to be prepared to debate for and against a topic and there will be an opportunity to meet next week and plan the debate arguments. Topics include education matters, current affairs, democracy, sports and society.

If you like to debate and want to improve your confidence with public speaking- this may be for you ! .
