Cllr Gary Norman, Deputy Mayor, said, “When we asked young people if they felt listened to by us, your Councillors, they said that we needed to do more. On 17th June we want to invite young people to tell us what it is really like to be young and growing up in the area. We want to focus on the areas that they told us were most important; places to meet, mental health and inclusivity. All you need to do is show up and start talking, we are listening.”
David Seward, CEO of Berkshire Youth, commented, “It is great that so many young people completed the ‘Make Your Voice Heard!’ survey and I would encourage young people to take part in this event. After dealing with the global pandemic, it is important not just for Berkshire Youth but also for our partners and supporters to make every effort to listen to the young people in our communities. I believe we should have young people at the heart of the decisions which affect them and should listen to and act upon their concerns, worries and ideas. I hope that these will help us find positive ways of creating a future for our young people.”
